Sevenoaks High St

We’re finally moving from Surrey into Kent for a walk down the busy Sevenoaks High St which is packed with shops of all types. It’s pretty much your typical High St apart from a slightly strange junction in the middle. Towards the end the shops do run out and we stop just before the road turns into Tonbridge Road. There were a number of interesting plaques seen in this video. If you want to see them clearer, there are some photos below.

Sevenoaks School & Almshouses

A grey plaque on a wall reading: Sevenoaks School and Almshouses. Founded 1418. The present buildings were built in 1724-34 to the designs of Lord Burlington. (A sevenoaks preservation society plaque)

The Chantry

A grey plaque on a wall reading: The Chantry. This house, which incorporates part of an earlier building, was built about 1700, on land which originally formed the endowment of the chantry established in 1257 in Saint Nicholas Church.
